Right off the bat, in class we learned about the A.S.P.E.C.T. rules to follow when you decide if the website is legitimate. To break down the ASPECT rule, each letter of the word stands for something. I need to use this as a website evaluation. To see is this website real and does it have the information I need. I hope this will help you all as it helped me. I would have been fooled from the start. As a class we checked out some websites. We had to look the website over and decide, Is this real or fake? Here is a link to see if you can decide.
Here is the ASPECT rule:
A: Authority- Who wrote it?
S: Sources- Where did they get their information from? Does it pertain to the article?
P: Purpose- Why did they write this? Are they Biased?
E: Evenness- Information is well rounded, all kinds of info.
C: Coverage- Everything you need to know!
T: Timeless- Was this article made or updated in your time period, better yet this year and so on.
Need more help on the APSECT rule? Here is a google document it breaks it all down.

Is is a small chart I made. Hopefully you can read it. |
A quote really stood out to me while I was on Iris, "Quality is not a beauty contest." It means that the website doesn't have to be all glamorous for it to be real.Normally if the website is all glitzy, then it is probably has a virus or may slow down your computer. I learned that the hard way.
The web 2.0 tool for the week was mindmeister. The tool is used to make simple all the way to complex concept maps. The tutorial was a little bit helpful. At first I was awed by the new tool. I began working with the new tool Tuesday this week. At first I did have to get use to the new tool. It was a hard but as I continued using mind meister it was getting easier.

Bare with me on this one. Later this week one of my assignments was to do another activity on Digital Drivers License. I did the wrong one, so when they do the one I did this week I have to do the one they did this week. Oh, I had a bad blonde moment. That is why this is kind of off topic. So the week lesson I did was on sexting. Some people have done it and others haven't. I fall in the category of never done that. I think I would feel dirty and unclean. You might think that I am too good, but that is your opinion and I don't care what you think because I know what is true. But the girl in the Digital Drivers License girl did care, who did sext, and later killed herself. The photo she took was forwarded to all the students of her high school. She did graduate but after eight months after the picture was scattered throughout the school, she hung herself in her own house, with a letter that read, " I love you mom. " So my advice you [my readers] that if you do not want everyone and their brothers and sisters seeing private things, don't do it. Simple as that. That girl, she didn't have anyone to talk to without that picture being brought up, not just in school. It saddens me to see that people think that the only way out is to die. If you have a problem you can talk to counselors, that is what they are there for.
This the same video, see if it speaks to you...
Another topic in Digital Drivers License is texting and driving.Do you text and drive? That has been a huge issue that is still continuing to grow. You may be addicted and not even know it. I can not drive, but I have been in a car with someone driving. I was so scared, I am very aware of the outcomes of texting and driving. My brother, my dad, and one of my uncles are all firefighters! They have seen many accidents. Lately the cause of many wrecks and deaths are texting and driving. It does not matter how important the text is wait till you are stopped. Watch the following videos for awareness for texting and driving. Thats all for this week, so blog you later!!!
